[There's a couple false starts to this which are scribbled out.]

Has anybody seen Aim today? He didn't show up to work this morning and when I went over to his house, nobody was home. I asked at Wellspring too, but nobody seems to have seen him.

There hasn't been another group caught by the elevator, has there? I know it's been trapping people this past week, but I didn't think he was among those.

Aim, write back if you see this, okay?

[Pause.]

[And Cara heads down there--armed with a shortsword, but that's just habit of ~~being a Final Fantasy character~~ not wanting to get caught short if the Sphere spawns monsters.]

[He only takes a few minutes to grab his own sword and get to her place. ]

...hey. [ He tips his head in acknowledgment. ]

Hey there.

[She smiles very briefly as a greeting before unlocking the stall and going in, turning on the light. The look on her face is definitely one of concern. She doesn't know Legacy overly well, but he's a fellow Guard and she doesn't like the thought of anybody getting offed besides.]

Who were you talking about on the journal--howcome you think he'll try to kill you?

[ He follows her inside. Once they're in, he glances from her, to the floor, and around the stall. ]

Eternity. As for why... [ He reaches up to mess with his hair. ] His...attitude. The overall murderous atmosphere. The way he condescends. [ A frown as he thinks. ] I try not to judge on first impressions, but something tells me we've met before, and we weren't friends.

[Eternity? She's met him before--hugged him, actually, thanks to mistletoe, and he had a sword repaired at the stall. But she's seen him behave very oddly towards Paladin on the journal.]

I've met him a couple of times, months ago--he didn't seem murderous to me, but I didn't speak to him for very long. He doesn't act very nicely towards his brother, I know that.

[She leans against the counter, pensive as well.]

But it sounds like a pretty strong feeling to call it that, and if you think you've met him before... you should trust it, I think.

Probably he won't be unless he has a purpose--maybe we had grudges in some other time.

[ If only his mind weren't drawing a blank. ]

His eyes are like mine...[ Murmurs to himself. ]

All right... then, be careful and try to stay away from him at least.

[Cara fiddles with the end of her ponytail, wondering what to do about this. She has banned people from the shop before on the basis of things remembered--Black is on that list because Rogue revealed his memory of murder on the fourth floor. But there's a difference between an explicit memory and a feeling.

She'll talk to Bastet and Stoneface about it and see how they feel... if he was around, she'd ask Aim too, but obviously that isn't possible right now.]

...Eyes? [That sounds like what he said; it was kind of quiet. She looks up at them.] You mean the way they kind of glow blue like that?

...I'm not sure if that can be helped. [ He now can identify the feeling in the back of his mind, bothering him--that was him. But he can try...mostly. ]

Ah--[ He hadn't meant to say that aloud. ] Yeah. Some sort of glow. [ Resisting the urge to self-consciously blink. ] I don't know what causes it, though.

Yeah--but as much as you can, at least. I know it can be pretty hard to avoid danger.

[Well... if he doesn't remember, she can't really ask him more about it. It's odd, but not unpleasant-looking. Still, she should probably hold back from saying so if there is an unpleasant reason for it.]

Oh... I see. [And for once that wasn't an attempted pun. She's got another question too.] ...Can I ask what it felt like when he was trying to get in your head?

I'd feel better if I knew what's causing the feelings.

[ Definitely odd, until he figures out what's causing it, he wouldn't call it unpleasant. ]

Well...[ Fidgets and tries to think. ] Ever since I was here...I can sense something. Don't know what it is or why, but it's always followed me around. The feeling became really strong when we ran into each other. but as for what it felt like--he did it without my knowledge. [ Bits of frustration leaks into his voice. ] To be honest, I don't know how he did it.

[Huh. That doesn't sound like... well... she has no idea what she was expecting it to, actually. But it doesn't sound like anything enjoyable.]

I guess it must be some kind of magic... it must be pretty powerful to have followed you for that long. Now that you know about it, do you think there's any way that you could keep him out?

I hadn't thought magic. I don't remember enough to even know if I knew any sort of magic. [ Glances down at his folded arms before looking back up. ]

Keep him out? Still figuring that out. [ Disgruntled tone. ] Sooner the better, though.

If I knew... or, if I remembered anything about it, I'd try to give you some help with that. But at least you know what he's doing now--maybe it'll be easier.

[Cara sticks her hands in her pockets, wondering if she can say or do anything else that would be helpful at this point. Beyond quietly asking Bastet and Stoneface's advice on the matter... right.]

I think it would be a good idea to let Bastet know about this.

...Yeah.

[ He jerks a little at this. ]

Ah...no. [ Shakes his head. ] What would that do? I can deal with this.

[Cara sticks her hands in her pockets... maybe. She isn't sure. It seems like something he shouldn't be alone about.

...If you're sure. But you should tell someone if it--gets worse.

..Yeah. [ He just doesn't think that he should bother someone else with his problems. ] If I go insane, you can be the first to know. [ Sarcasm mixed in with gratitude to Cara for listening. This...mind-reading thing made him lose some sleep, but he knows he hasn't been imagining it. ]
