The weapons shop was hit really badly by the hurricane, so we're going to be closed until we get it rebuilt. Right now we're not sure how long that'll take, but it won't until the houses are fixed at least. Sorry about the nuisance.

However, the forge on Stuff Inc. is fine! So we'll still be able to do repairs. But unless you really need it, wait until things settle down. Rebuilding is more important.

We did find a sign in the mess. Goodness knows where it came from, but it's in one piece and it's pretty spiffy. It says "The Weapons Tree," and I suppose that's a good name for a weapons shop.

[ooc: The sign in question was made by Kris ♥ found with mod permission.]

I hope you don't lose too much stock to rust.

No, the stock's all right. We've just got a lot more door than we used to.

I imagine so. Some parts of the Bazaar got hit harder than others.

Yep. We weren't so lucky this time, but it's okay.

Once the houses are set, let me know when you need assistance with the shop, Krile. I will do what I can!

Really? Thanks, Youth! I'll be sure to do that.

Do you want any help with that? Not that - well, I'm not a carpenter, but - [ It's a weapons shop! Intriguing. ] I'm sure you could use it.

From: [identity profile] feathered-earth.livejournal.com
Well, it won't only be carpentry that we need. Another pair of hands would be great! You're Flame, right?

That's right. It's nice to meet you. I was excited to hear there was a weapons shop here.

Likewise! So is working with weapons familiar for you?

I think it is. Something feels very right about it.

Gosh, it's too bad the shop is so beat-up. It'd probably help more if you saw it intact... unless you know how to make or fix them?

I haven't tried yet, but... I think I dreamed of a forge.

Wow, really? If you want, I can show you our forge! It was only a little damaged and it still works just fine.

I'd love to see it. So you're a smith as well?

ql?

I can do it, but I think it's something I only learned after coming here.

Would it be all right if I showed you around tomorrow?

sure!

Sure! I'd really appreciate it.

Okay! I'll meet you on Stuff Inc. after noon tomorrow, then.

[And at that time, Krile does show up near the bridge. ...Realizing that Flame might not be very familiar with the islands with being born right into evacuation-time, she considers writing a reminder in the journal, but she'll wait a bit first.

Even without the weapons, Krile's curious to meet her anyway--she knows that Flame is a friend of Nova's.]

[ Flame had had to look over her map to find the bridge, but she managed to locate it just a few minutes after noon. She promised herself as she approached that she was going to get more familiar with the Sphere, now that she had a chance. ]

[ She was excited to be seeing a forge again (it had to be again, why else would this feel so right?), but also to meet another smith. And a friend of Nova's, no less, which meant she was probably very nice. She had no doubt that trusting Nova's judgment was the right thing in this case. ]

[ When she sees the blonde standing there, she waves as she approaches. ] Are you Krile? [ She smiles. ]

[Krile smiles brightly at the newcomer, waving back.]

Hello! Yes, that's me. Which means you're Flame, right?

[She looks her over, already deciding that Flame seems like a very nice, friendly person... but then she checks that impression. After over a year here, Krile feels she should know better than to judge someone at first meeting like she used to.

Still! She does like her so far. Krile starts off towards the small forge the shop uses.]

The forge is this way. It's not too fancy, but it's enough for repairing the things we find in the Scavenger's Yard.

[ Flame nodded. ] It's nice to meet you.

[ She had no qualms with giving in to her feeling that she liked Krile right away. There'd been no one to up her guard yet, and she was naturally a pretty social person anyway. She followed Krile cheerfully toward the forge. ]

It's more important that it works than that it's fancy, I'd think. What kind of things do you get to work on? Just weapons?

[Krile leads the way towards the "workshop petal" of the island. A lot of things there are in the process of being put back up, and that includes the simple forge the weapons shop uses, but it's still serviceable.]

Yep! Although I did have a friend ask me to make a buckle for him, it is basically all weapons. Mostly swords and spears, but there's a lot of unconventional things in the Scavenger's Yard sometimes.

[Krile carefully pushes the door open--it needs some repair and there's a hole in it--and walks in. The brick forge isn't lit, but the tools, bellows, and coal are still there.]

It needs a little fixing, but it came out okay in the storm.

[ She follows Krile into the room, glancing around with a content expression. She pats the forge like a sleeping puppy and peers at the tools as if mentally sorting them, which is what she's doing. These things aren't exactly the same as she remembers they should be, but close enough. ]

It's wonderful.

[Krile can see almost at once... Flame belongs here. She can't help but smile at the way the woman explores the forge, seeing how well she knows it despite not having seen it before.]

You sure do look happy here.

[She pauses, tugging at the end of her ponytail a little.]

If you'd like--I couldn't hire you right away because the shop is still knocked over, but when it's fixed you could work for us. I've learned to repair things all right, but I'm not a proper blacksmith myself.

[ Flame turns around, her surprised look quickly becoming pleased. ]

I'd love to! [ She can't imagine doing something else, in fact. It's as simple as adding two and two to her: she's found a place she belongs. No more consideration is necessary. ]

And if you wanted, I could probably teach you. Though it looks like you've gotten a good start, already.

Wonderful! Oh--you're still in Temporary Housing, right? Or you would be, if the hurricane hadn't come through... I'll make sure Housing knows you can live in a Section 1 house from now on, though.

And I would love to learn how to be a better smith, if you really wouldn't mind.

Okay, thank you! [ She nods. ] That will help, definitely. [ She'd been wondering where to go from temp housing and now she had a direction and a job and wow. It happened fast but she didn't mind. She couldn't wait to get home and tell her brother. ]

I would love to teach you. I don't know if I've ever had an apprentice before, but I'll try to be a good teacher.

I'll swing by to go over repairs/reestablishing the security measures sometime soon, ok?

I guess we're lucky no one lost something to a wind-propelled sword.

From: [identity profile] feathered-earth.livejournal.com
Okay--thanks. [They're gonna need a pump for the trapdoor pit but she won't say something specific like that on the journal.]

That's why we kept our inventory somewhere else during the storm. We didn't want any accidents like that.

[Or just buckets to slowly bail it out. And a very energetic ninja with a bowlcut to do the bailing.]

Ah, good. How does your house look?

From: [identity profile] feathered-earth.livejournal.com
[THAT WOULD ALSO HELP.]

The house is fine, more or less. Nothing a few new shingles and some plaster can't cure.

How about you guys?

[Having a bf is so handy!]

Good. I'm sure Youth will help with that, if need be.

We're fine. The dogs are a little skittish, and there's some water damage, but the house held up.

Oh! We're not really going to get to work rebuilding it until the houses are rebuilt, since those are more important. But you can help me take some of the broken things out of there if you really want.
