Oh, great.

On the other hand it could be a lot worse.

Do you folks at housekeeping have a hose I could borrow?

[This entry is marked with various ink smudges and is not messy, but written in an extremely careful and neat hand with any words that aren't perfectly neat scribbled out.]

[ooc: So the other part of the price tag is that Cara and Helios' house now has an immovable flock of birds sitting on it doing... what birds do.

ALSO: for characters who knew Renae, Cara learned from Will off-journal that she's gone for good. So she'll be going around and letting them know. If you want we can use this entry for quicklogs; if you'd rather handwave it or do a full log, that works too. Just let me know with a comment here or in chat. :) ]

...Great. I'll try to chase 'em off when I get back.

Cara, what's with the writing?

Good luck. They sure didn't listen to me, even when I tried chasing them.

Nothing's with the writing. [long pause.] But I have to talk to you when I get home.

[The birds are still there, unfortunately, and Cara's decided to hang out inside with the cats. She's sitting on the floor with one of them in her lap, just waiting for Helios to get home so she can give him the news.]

[Eventually, outside there came some shouting and the clatter of rocks tumbling down the roof, eventually Helios gave up trying to startle the birds and came inside.]

[Rocks and shouting, yeah, that's Helios. Gets up and brushes cat hair off the front of her dress.]

I tried that; they won't budge--

[All right... how to say it...]

Helios... Renae is gone. It's been confirmed.

[She feels... odd as she tells him that. She's not crying, although she probably could if she let herself. Renae is gone, but they know it for sure. Not that "gone" is reassuring by any means, given what little is known. But it's better than not knowing at all.

Not that they got a chance to say goodbye.]

[No they wouldn't, stupid birds.]

...

[He's silent for a long time, almost appearing as though he didn't even here her, but slowly he nodded, his shoulders dropping slightly.]

I figured.

[Hearing it didn't make it any better, though, now he wanted to go out and stab something. Or hit something. Maybe start another fight with Zombie.]

[Nothing makes it better really. A certainty one way or the other would be nice but all they know is not here but not completely gone.

She's silent for a bit. There isn't much to say. If anything at all. And looking up she just spots some of the pictures that Renae drew and painted.]

...sorry.

[It comes out in a very small voice and she knows it doesn't make sense to say it. Now she's starting to feel like crying.]

[Helios just shakes his head, his own eyes had strayed to some of them. Then, without really explaining himself turns to leave, reaching for his sword on the way out.

Time to go vent on some not-so-defenseless giant spiders.]
